Helping Our Members Support Their Causes
The USAF Police Alumni Association feels it is important to help our members support causes that are important to them. Here members can submit causes that they have a passion for and would like our members to support.
** Because there are a lot of scams out there, we will only post causes that have been vetted and approved by our board. Each cause MUST support a valid IRS recognized non-profit association. If the cause is not tax deductible then it can not appear here on this page.

Purple Heart Cruises - Supporting Wounded Warriors
Check us out: http://www.purpleheartcruise.org/home.html
Purple Heart Cruise is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and enhancing the lives of our wounded veterans and their families with a unique at-sea experience during our annual 7 day Caribbean cruise.
The foundation was established by J.J. O'Connor (Commander, US Navy Retired after serving 20 years as a helicopter pilot) to honor Purple Heart recipients - including his grandson 'Alex' who was severely wounded in Afghanistan in January 2015. While monitoring Alex's recovery at Walter Reed Medical center, J.J. met dozens of warriors in various stages of therapy and recovery. Many of these wounded were in far worse medical condition than Alex and their families were stressed, suffering from anxiety, anger, as well as being emotionally and financially spent. |
As motivation for Alex with his rehabilitation, J.J. offered to take him on a cruise but he could not forget the other warriors he had met at Walter Reed. So, in May of 2015, with the kindness and generosity of family and friends, J.J. took Alex along with 4 other wounded heroes on the first Purple Heart Cruise at NO COST to them. And at that, The Purple Heart Cruise was born.
The Purple Heart Cruise 'gives-back' to our wounded veterans by offering them and their spouses, caregivers and young children an ocean cruise at NO COST. During the cruise the foundation offers a 'seminar at sea' which provides a forum for our warriors to address a number of issues of importance to them, such as: veteran suicide, marriage counseling, survivors guilt, PTSD/TBI problems, pain management, VA healthcare, caregiver training, etc. All of this is only made possible thru the the generosity of our private and corporate donors, whom we cannot thank enough. In October of 2021 The Purple Heart cruise is celebrating with the 6th Annual cruise on the Carnival Freedom for 8 days sailing the Caribbean. Supporters are welcomed to cruise with us or provide donations to defer the cost for a wounded warrior. Thank you for considering giving to The Purple Heart Cruise. |
