For over 40 years USAF Security Police watched over air force assets that were a direct deterrent against Soviet  aggression. These included Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM), strategic bombers,  Ground Launched Cruise Missiles (GLCM), command and control aircraft such as Looking Glass and NEACP.
